Data Product Governance

Data products require a mature product organization that inserts multiple reviews into the certification process and processes feedback from operations. (See figure 1.) 

Review Boards. There are two review boards: 1) a product review board that reviews product plans and approves funding based on stated value propositions and relevancy among other factors 2) a technical review board which reviews beta products to ensure they adhere to technical standards for design, performance, and alignment. 

The rigor of the data governance process varies by type of data product. Data products designed for developers require a less rigorous certification process than data products designed for business executives. (See figure 2.)
